Sturdivant stays
Friday January 7, 2011
Marc Weiszer reports that junior left tackle Trinton Sturdivant will remain at Georgia for his senior season. Other than kicker Blair Walsh, Sturdivant is the only Bulldog junior to announce his intentions one way or the other. Sturdivant’s senior season will be his fifth at Georgia, and it will be his second full season following a return from two knee injuries. His return gives the Bulldogs another veteran presence up front on a line that is losing three seniors.

Good to see these guys stay. A senior year on campus helps a young man in many ways other that further development as a football player. Whether it helps the Dawgs’ record in 2011 is another matter. For me I like their judgment and decision making at this point…first it honors a commitment they made, and second I like them thinking about who they are. There is a simple rule in life…before you can take care of someone else, you have to take care of yourself…being a senior put you there.
Sidebar…losing to Vandy was the pits. I like it when the opposing coach makes a point that they can get another team in foul trouble. That comment would raise a few eyebrows about officiating in the SEC…too much home cooking. Personally, I think that comment deserves a fine or a rebuke from the SEC office.
